Fall is in the air! Congratulations to all compliance colleagues and counterparts for completing the start to another school year!
Though 2015-16 academic year just recently got underway, the NAAC Convention Committee is already hard at work preparing for next June’s 2016 NAAC Convention and following the lead of our President, Dan Bartholomae, to Empower The Membership. The group is primed to create another great docket of programming for the compliance profession, as well preparing for a change of scenery. After three consecutive years in Orlando, NAAC shifts to a familiar locale when it returns to the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
As we make a change in geography, we also will make a calendar change for NAAC 2016. This year’s Convention will move from its traditional Sunday afternoon start. Instead, the Convention will run from Saturday, June 11 and conclude the morning of Monday, June 13. This shift is not intended to be permanent; however, NAAC felt the shift was appropriate for 2016 in order to take advantage of a unique and beneficial opportunity for our organization and our profession.
Refer to the calendar and notice the dates for the 2016 NAAC Convention are immediately prior to the second offering of the 2016 NCAA Regional Rules Seminar, which is scheduled to also take place in Dallas from June 13-16. What an incredible opportunity for the continued development of our professionals! Just think about it…one trip, two great events!
Attendees will enjoy an afternoon of NAAC programming on Saturday, followed by the Welcome Reception on Saturday evening. We will continue with a full day of programming Sunday and even have some programming Monday morning before the NCAA’s Regional Rules programming hits its full swing.
In preparation for this great opportunity, NAAC is entering into a collaborative partnership with the NCAA to allow both events to retain their unique, distinct characteristics while capitalizing on the chance to have both events in the same city running back to back. Stay tuned as more details are to be finalized throughout the 2015-16 academic year! We are thrilled to engage with the NCAA and partner with the organization to hold two independent, yet cooperative, events.
I would encourage all compliance professionals to participate in both of these professional development opportunities with us in 2016. Again, just make one trip and attend two great conferences! Maybe it has been awhile since you attended a NAAC Convention and you want to get re-acquainted. Maybe the added cost of two flights has previously kept you from attending. Maybe you are an annual attender. Whatever your situation, we hope you consider spending the week of June 11-16 with us here in Dallas!
